Doesn't work

Mixes well, but just doesn't hold together when cooked. Don't know about the taste as I couldn't get it to actually make a pancake. Shame, as a quick and easy vegan protein pancake would be lovely! Let's hope MyProtein see these reviews and look at reformulating the mix to make it more effective.

The chocolate pancake mix is divine. Like a gooey chocolate brownies for a better blend i suggest using almond milk over water and ADD BICARB you get a better rise i ran out and was SO sad, addicted. the blueberry and cinnamon mix unfortunately is not good. like water thin , doesn't form pancakes but the chocolate is unreal

Dreadful

Bought all three flavours of this as I was so excited at the prospect of vegan protein pancakes. However, they are dreadful. The consistency is all wrong regardless of whether I use water or plant milk. They fall apart in the pan and you end up with mush. Really disappointing. Tried a few times to make them but finally gave up and have binned what’s left.  I can easily make vegan pancakes from scratch that are amazing. I don’t quite know how MyProtein have got this product so badly wrong. Very disappointed.

Really bad pancake mix, but potentially good for other things

After having MP's Protein Pancake Mix and being pleased and impressed with it, I thought I would try the Vegan version as well. What a disappointment. I read the reviews before buying, but I was skeptical because I thought people might be getting the liquid/powder ratio wrong. It is clear to me that the ingredients used to create this vegan pancake mix are just not working well. I dare MyProtein to make a video and show us how they manage to make pancakes using the instructions they provided... or any other instructions actually. In terms of liquids used to mix the pancake powder with, I tried cow milk, plant-based milk and water. The ratios of powder-to-liquid I tried are 50g/100ml, 50g/150ml, 50g/200ml, 50g/250ml. None worked. By the way, the instructions say 50g/100-125ml. They even equate 2 scoops with 50g, which is incorrect; 50g is more like 1.5 level scoops. The low-liquid ratios create a thick batter, which is just not frying properly, the way normal pancakes would. The thick batter forms a crust on the bottom, but the rest that is on top just does not hold together no matter how high the temperature was and crisp the bottom got. The ratios with higher amounts of liquid were better, just some other reviewers noted. If you make very thin pancakes, then they eventually cook enough to hold together and enable you to turn them over without breaking them. But the thin pancakes just do not feel right. I cannot even call them pancakes and the texture just feel weird. In terms of frying oils, I used organic butter, MCT oil, coconut oil and ghee. Trust me, I really tried to like this by experimenting with the ratios, the frying temperature and oils used. It just does not work as a mix. Because I like experimenting, especially with plant-based recipes as of late even though I am not vegan, and because I did not want to throw this pancake powder away, I have tried using it to make a vegan protein porridge (or pudding?). I managed to make something nice. I also managed to make mug/bowl cakes in the microwave with it, although the result is not really a cake, but a semi-cake, semi-pudding in consistency. Still tasty though. For those interested, here is the porridge recipe: - 30g Vegan Pancake Mix (~100kcal) - 30g coconut/almond flour (~100kcal) - 30g Vegan Protein Blend (~100kcal) - 10g milled seeds (flax, pumpkin, chia, etc.) (~50kcal) - 300ml water/milk - a tip of a teaspoon of 100% sucralose I mix the ingredients, put on the hob on max heat, I keep mixing until the mixture becomes like a pudding. I take off the hob and add 25g of peanut butter or triple-nut butter from MP (~150kcal). It tastes great and it's high in protein. It has roughly about 500 kcal if you use water.

Very good pancakes, but misleading instructions

The package instruction is "add 2 scoops, 50g, to 100-125ml of water...". When I read it for the first time, I wasn't sure if I should add 2 scoops (100gr) or the 2 scoops = 50g. Anyways, I've concluded it would be 2 scoops because of the volume of water. It was too thick thought. I fixed it adding around 150-170ml of milk (I haven't tried with water). My assumption is that most of the bad reviews are due to the bad instructions leading people to make very thick pancakes. I still prefer the texture and taste of my homemade vegan pancakes made of oats, banana, veg milk and protein powder, but the mix is a good alternative and it has a good taste. Last, but not least, I recommend you to make very thin pancakes instead of 3-4 as the instructions.

You can't cook it. It burns outside and is RAW inside. Smells funny not tasty at all.

Not mixing well either with water or non dairy milk and does not form nice shaped pancakes and the taste is bad. Also made me feel really heavy and sick. Will never buy again. Really disappointed.

Do not waste your money

I was so excited to find a vegan protein pancake mix that I bought all three flavours. It burns to the pan and does not hold together at all. You end up with a burnt pan and a blob of uncooked liquid. Totally inedible.  I tried to salvage it by cooking some in a waffle maker. Once again- inedible mush!  Completely useless.

Easiest pancakes

I got the Blueberry and Cinnamon flavour and love it! Taste is a bit chemical but will be buying the unflavoured next time! Mixed perfectly and cooked well. Perfectly cooked all the way through, crisp on the outside and easy to flip! Tried so many homemade recipes that stick, break, clump and end up as mush in the bin so am so Hayworth how easy these are! Tip: heat oil up high then drop the heat once mix goes in, wait for bubbles then flip then it should be a minute or so. Smaller pancakes work best :)
